Quick Look

My first twenty five years involved life at the base of the Steens Mt. in the town of Frenchglen being a cowboy and rancher assisting my folks run the general store in conjunction with a small cattle ranch in Catlow Valley…………….. Then I married Sherry Otley (her folks own a ranch in Diamond Oregon) who was teaching school in Terrebonne. Four wonderful loving kids later and a job at the Redmond Greenhouse and the rest is history. We purchased the business in the eighty’s and have been there ever since. The reason I’m there today is the same reason I took the job back in 78. A GREAT love for the garden, Mother Nature, and surrounding people, continue to be my driving force and purpose. I have hosted various radio shows for over twenty years, and am currently with KBND 1110 AM every Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00AM. I am also a local TV personality offering gardening, landscaping and lifestyle advice. I am a frequent writer for local newspapers and magazines. I continue to offer community education through classes, seminars, and public presentations. I am in the process of writing two books which I hope to publish in the near future. As a member of the “Garden Writers of America” and the “Oregon Association of Nurserymen” I am continually kept updated on related issues, trends, products, and plants. With a smile on my face, a story to make you laugh, and a philosophy that gardening is one of the greatest things we can do, I will continue to pursue my passion and mission. I hope you enjoy all that I contribute to this site…… Thanks….. Doug Stott
